George Delaney MD

Dr. George Delaney is the Owner and Medical Director of DelaneyMD Aesthetics & Anti-Aging at Elysium Medical Arts Center in Edmonds, Washington, just north of Seattle. Dr. Delaney obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Washington in the mid-80’s then went on to pursue a medical degree at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, obtaining his MD in 1995. Internship and residency training subsequently brought Dr. Delaney back to the west coast where he completed a Family Medicine residency program at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Oregon.

Dr. Delaney’s main focus in medicine after residency was directed towards primary care for the underserved. Thus, after working with Native American populations in Alaska and New Mexico in 1998, he positioned himself to work with a community health care center, just south of Salt Lake City, Utah, to care for underinsured and Hispanic populations. Here the span of care included working with individuals that had commonly advanced chronic disease processes, including hypertension, diabetes, elevated lipids and obesity, in addition to wellness care involving infants, children, adolescents and pregnant women. Due to the fact that obstetrics and gynecology existed as a significant part of primary care in this setting, Dr. Delaney’s responsibilities also included overseeing the colposcopy clinic and delivering approximately 1,500 infants at the local regional medical center, including cesarean-section assists.

During those years of delivering primary care to thousands of patients many observations were made regarding the etiology, or cause, of long-term chronic disease processes and how those processes were related to lifestyle choices. Consequently Dr. Delaney decided that helping clients treat themselves through lifestyle intervention was critical to addressing the root cause of the majority of western chronic diseases. Consequently, he left his position in Utah and returned to Washington state in 2016 to open a private medical office that focuses on integrative and functional wellness with a special emphasis on anti-aging and aesthetics.

In line with this new focus Dr. Delaney became board-certified in Obesity Medicine through the American Board of Obesity Medicine in 2016. Further interest in anti-aging and regenerative medicine also initiated the pursuit of two fellowships – an Aesthetics Fellowship and a Metabolic and Nutrition Fellowship, both through the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M).

Aesthetic Fellowship education and training was completed in 2016 at the A4M affiliates of the Ageless Institute in Florida and the Institute of Medical Aesthetics in Healthcare City, Dubai, UAE. Here fellowship training was overseen by world class aesthetic physicians and practitioners in laser, radiofrequency, BroadBand Light, platelet rich plasma (PRP), dermal fillers, neuromodulators and deoxycholic acid. Additionally, post-fellowship aesthetic training has included the following: PRP training involving the Vampire Facial and Vampire Facelift procedures at Seiler Skin in Birmingham, Alabama, with Dr. Warren Seiler III; certified training through the National Laser Institute in Phoenix, Arizona, for PDO (polydioxanone) thread lift treatments of the face and body; and, finally, body contouring by Allergan utilizing their CoolSculpting platform in Washington and California. These latter trainings were all completed in 2018.

Dr. Delaney subsequently completed his Fellowship in Anti-Aging, Metabolic and Functional Medicine in December of 2018, demonstrating further professional commitment to advanced medical education and training. Functional Medicine focuses on determining the root cause of a disease to help diagnose and treat the individual as a whole. By optimizing lifestyle intervention through behavioral modification, nutrition, exercise, sleep, stress reduction, relationships and supplementation, chronic western disease processes can be addressed from a holistic, integrative process. This process authentically involves clients in their health care. Such an approach subsequently helps to minimize the focus on utilizing medication to reduce disease burden. Dr. Delaney is currently a Board Certified member of the American Board of Anti-Aging & Regenerative Medicine (ABAARM) through A4M. Lastly, Dr. Delaney continues to maintain in good standing his board certification in Family Medicine through the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) and was re-certified in 2015.
